Philippe Rigollet is the Cecil and Ida Green Distinguished Professor of Mathematics. His research interests span a wide range of mathematical topics, particularly those emerging from the fields of statistics, data science, and artificial intelligence. Currently, he focuses on statistical optimal transport and the mathematical foundations of Transformers. At the Université Paris VI, Rigollet earned a BSc in statistics in 2001, a BSc in applied mathematics in 2002, and a PhD in mathematical statistics in 2006. He has held positions as a visiting assistant professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology and then as an assistant professor at Princeton University.
